Following are excerpts from Caterpillars news release of feb 27th 1988.

How much of their projected growth is going to be from GPS enhanced products? A presentation I saw, by a senior officer of Caterpillar indicated that GPS will bring about the next leap of growth in Caterpillars equipment demand.

PEORIA, Ill., Feb. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE: CAT)
"The company said in its annual report that it has internal strategies in
place that form a winning plan for the next century".

"Caterpillar reiterated its intention to become a $30 billion-plus company
before the end of the next decade". The report said, "We'll manage to operate
profitably even during economic downturns. And we'll continue to offer
consistently attractive dividends to our shareholders."

In the Letter to Stockholders in the annual report, Fites predicted that
Caterpillar's position as an industry leader will become stronger in the next
few years. "We'll grow by developing new products and product families.
We'll grow by expanding our coverage in new geographic markets. We'll grow by
offering new and better services to our customers."
