There are a few key differences between the shopping.com situation and what has been claimed by some for RMIL:

(1) AFAIK there has been no claim that the shopping.com short selling was illegal. It does appear to have been naked.

(2) A single entity (Waldron & Co.) apparently had and used the capability of bringing the short squeeze to fruition through buy-ins. Whether that entity ultimately profits from their strategy may well be decided by the courts.

Here are some links for those interested in the shopping.com story:

MSNBC articles about shopping.com and/or Waldron:

msnbc.com
msnbc.com
msnbc.com
msnbc.com

The trading suspension giving as reason: "recent market activity in the stock that may have been the result of manipulative conduct":

It is a shame that didnt happen with RMIL, but it does show the basic idea was correct.
Short sellers CAN be made to buy back in at a much higher price.
BTW..there is a link to a chart at the bottom of the article.

Al-len,

Since Shopping.com was halted on Mar. 24 and there already is a big ruckus surrounding the company (a BB stock as well) in just the past week, why is it that RMIL hasn't received similar publicity??

Things that make you go hmmm....

Thanks for posting that article. It might make a few people start to wonder why RMIL hasn't enjoyed a comparable surge in price given the HUGE amount of shares claimed to be short by its shareholders (and unofficially by the company as well??)

Regards,

Ron
