John, interesting forecast for DVD-ROM vs. consumer DVD. I know that the consumer boxes are moving here in Northern California and I guess I'm just a little frustrated that I couldn't buy one with Cube inside (I opted for a Toshiba). I haven't found a retailer that sells the Samsung unit in San Francisco.

By the way, Mr. B. mentioned working with Compaq during the last conference call. Any scoop here? What are they using for a decoder now in their desktop line?

Divicom is a growth story. It could move from about 1/3 of C-Cube's revenues to 1/2, over the next two years........

Divi's gonna be very busy. Here is what they have up for NAB for those that haven't read it yet........

------------------------------------------------------------------------
NAB '98 will be even more powerful and exciting than last year's event, when more than 100,000 communication professionals - including over 64,000 qualified buyers - converged in Las Vegas. This year's expected attendance is over 120,000, including 26,000 international registrants.

DiviCom will be exhibiting in the Sands Expo & Convention Center, in a
50'x 50' booth (#S3568). This will be a brand NEW booth with a theater for a live presentation, 3 conference rooms and 4 double-sided workstations.( Sounds like they ae ready to make an impression

DiviCom will be showcasing a number of new products and solutions for digital television service providers.

Demonstrations/Featured Products

Broadcast - DiviCom is showing an actual multi-program digital television
station operating in our booth. The station feeds a transmitter a few miles away via a microwave studio-to-transmitter link. The ATSC compliant system features DiviCom's new MV40 4:2:2/4:2:0 encoder, with C-Cube's DVx encoding chip and DiviCom's proprietary microcode. Also shown is DiviCom's automatic redundancy feature, AC-3 audio encoding and pass through, and our Datacast system for adding data to the MPEG-2 transport stream.

Contribution - The MediaView MV16 encoder delivers the highest-quality
digital pictures through its powerful microcode and DVx chip MPEG-2 encoding technology. The DiviTrack feature of the MV40 is the world's first
"lookahead" statistical multiplexing solution. The MV16 supports switchable
4:2:2 and 4:2:0 as standard features and is both ATSC and DVB compliant.

Satellite solutions for digital broadcast -
The THESYSTM network management product family for digital network facilities. THESYS is comprised of the MediaView System Controller SC20, the alarm manager, bandwidth manager and schedule manager software modules. These software tools contain easy-to-use graphics user interfaces, use SNMP and are engineered to maximize network up time. ?

The DiviCast system enables data broadcasting applications. This headend/uplink system provides for the transmission of IP traffic over MPEG-2 networks. By using the DiviCast system, television service
providers can offer their customers high speed data services including
"push" information broadcasts, multimedia streaming, file transfers and
Internet access via satellite.
