In the article in USA Today it was pointed out that Qwest sought out the merger with LCI for the strength of its marketing and ACN was highlighted as being the primary agency responsible for LCI's growth. I think the last thing Qwest would want would be to lose ACN.
As an ACN rep I think this merger has the potential of greatly enhancing what we can offer and the creditability of our products.
As long as Qwest doesn't change the marketing scheme, we can build the customer base and save our customers money two ways. First, by not spending large dollars on advertising we save substantially over the percentage of the bill paid to ACN and others for agencies for customers they've acquired. Second, because the fiber-optic network that will be in place is state of the art and substantially owned by the company, the actual cost for long distance call should be less than our competitors.
Finally, if I were Quest, the last thing I'd want would be ACN marketing similar services for one of my competitors.
In summary, I think that LCI-Qwest and ACN will make a great team in building both companies and if I were Sprint I'd be looking over my shoulder.
Talk to you later,
Gary
