Charlie , Compaq has gone almost 100% with AMD as the alternative CPU
vendor . The K6 has established itself as a reliable CPU on a par with
Intel's PII but at a lower cost structure . AMD has something that takes years to establish (since 1969) , credibility as a second source vendor .
IDTI on the other hand will have to establish itself as a credible fourth source , behind Cyrix .
The price structure of AMD , Cyrix and IDTI's products gives a clue to how the market views the individual companies,
