Ratan, Re: "INTC can just price volumes and prices. They cannot favor one co. over another. Its against the law. Of course pricing could be based on combination of different products (thus favoring DELL). But I am sure that CPQ and IBM would cry foul and go to DOJ. Unless we find out pricing structure, we cannot really claim that DELL is getting better prices."

Thanks. Perhaps that's more along the lines of what I read. "based on combination of different products" etc. I was being very speculative since it does seem Dell's earnings are outperforming CPQ, IBM & HWP. and they exclusively use Intel at the high end.

One would have to speculate:
1) Why Dell is outperforming while most others are stating that the high prices are gone, or not selling. And Intel must compete at the lower end to survive or suffer market share to competitors?
2) Why CPQ, IBM & HWP insist on pushing the low end while Dell is outperforming exclusively with the high end?
3) Why stuff the channel with Intel's high end at the same time their pushing the low end products?

My speculation was that for some unknown reason to me CPQ, IBM & HWP have forced Intel into lowering their prices by directing their markets towards the cheapest models available with the use of below market competitive chip pricing, while the high end was and most likely still is outselling, hence Dell. It seems to me that this logic
will cost you high end customers. Why should thay buy higher end from you when you have lower prices on the shelf.

Speculation, speculation.
