That is exactly where I would like to see CPQ using alpha. CPQ will certainly support Alpha for the near term because of the VAX base which is now mostly on Alpha, and this gives them a golden opportunity to break out of the Wintel pack on the high end, which has been their stated strategy. If Alpha takes off (reaches the kind of high end volumes CPQ could deliver) it will guarantee alpha's future and also give CPQ the ability to take the top of both the NT and Unix markets... makes sense to me.

George - The short term scenario makes eminent sense. What do you see once Merced ramps though? Do you think Samsung will provide manufacturing to keep Intel on it's toes? Rudedog mentioned in an earlier post that Intel is required to produce the chip for several years, after that I don't know. Even though Samsung makes the chip, recent articles in the press have stated that they are looking to Intel for a possible capital infusion. Any thoughts?

Thanks,
John
