Phi, here's what I found on IDTC: website: idt.net CONTACT: Sarah Hofstetter IDT Public Relations 201-928-2882 or Ilan Slasky IDT Investor Relations 201-928-4316 Internet service provider; provide international call reorigination; markets international and domestic long- distance telecommunications services. IPO at $10 March 15, 1996. Lead Manager: Cowen & Co. 35 Institutions hold 55.99% of the outstanding shares as of December 31,1997. Of these, 17 established new positions while 2 liquidated their holdings. Overall, Institutions increased their holdings by 65.75% for the period. Fom this week's "Missing Link" columm in Money Talks: "There are various and wide-ranging estimates of how popular Internet telephony has become, but all seem to point to one general conclusion: while the usage is surprising large (640 million call minutes in 1997) and growing (2 billion minutes by 2000), it's still only a drop in the bucket compared to the overall long distance market (40 to 50 billion minutes). 'It's still well under one percent, and going forward, we're projecting maybe four or five percent in the next few years, and eventually, about 10 to 11 percent' says Mark Winther, an analyst with the International Data Group in Manhattan. (good article, worth reading.)talks.com Recent article in SF Chronicle:sfgate.com Competition: AT&T already offers Internet-based telephone service in Japan. MCI uses Internet telephony to help call centers manage electronic commerce. And one of Europe's largest carriers, Deutsche Telekom, is a major investor in one of the pioneers of Internet telephone technology, VocalTec, based in Israel. IDTC is the only company that I found to be currently profitable at this business Ranked 6th in list of 100 telcos by Forbes ASAP, 7th Fastest Growing High-Tech Company by Deloitte & Touche, and Editor's Choice by Computer Telephony Integration Magazine 3/25 News release: "In a joint statement, Yahoo, the leading Internet site, and IDT, a scrappy supplier of low-cost international communication services, said users of Yahoo's people search and phone directory services can now link to IDT's Net2Phone service. Once a phone number is located in the directory, the Yahoo user can click on the number and be connected to IDT's Net2Phone service. The Yahoo customer can sign up, download the software and pre-pay for calling minutes using a credit card, a process that takes about 10 minutes, an IDT spokeswoman said. Recipients on the other end of the call do not need to be online to receive Net2Phone calls. They can answer their telephone as they would a regular phone call." Interesting website that is adding company profiles and provides a chat room discussion on this sector:launchingpad.com I downloaded the Net2Phone from the Yahoo website. It took 10 minutes and was very simple to do. My son did the same thing on his computer. Nothing like hands on DD. My son is now using his computer to make phone calls using Net2phone. I'm having some problems with the modem or speakers or configuration. Net2Phone voice clarity is excellent through my son's computer and very simple to use. I was suprised to see that CEO Jonas does not hold shares and that he and others sold their shares late last year. Other than this information, IDTC seems to be an overwhelmingly great buying opportunity. Sergio
