C-Cube in Gateway's new laptop...............................

zdnet.com

Gateway's 9100 LS, the strongest performer of the Pentium II notebooks we looked at, also offers the most comprehensive array of features, including a DVD-ROM drive.
Gateway has thoroughly loaded the Solo 9100. This laptop has 32MB of SDRAM and a 4GB hard disk. Trident's new 3D-capable Cyber9397 graphics accelerator with 4MB of SGRAM drives the large 14.1-inch TFT LCD panel. For improved DVD playback performance, the system includes a C-Cube Ziva-DS hardware DVD/MPEG2 decoder. Taking a cue from Digital, Gateway includes a combined 8X/20X DVD-ROM-and-floppy disk drive module that uses a single spindle. This lets you access both the DVD-ROM and the floppy disk drives simultaneously from the same bay. A 56K x2 modem with cellular phone jack rounds out this all-in-one system. Unfortunately, all this capability comes at the cost of increased weight. With its 12-cell lithium ion battery and charging unit, the Solo 9100 LS weighs in at a hefty 9.4 pounds.

ANOTHER reason to spin off Divi's stock
there is great potential for growth for DiviCom's business;
remember what happened when AT&T spun off Lucent
i hope management talks to some investment bankers about this
