I am really puzzled when you say the European market for cars is bigger than the U.S. market, Duncan. How could that be? Are you talking about western Europe? What is their population, anyway? America is huge, heavily populated, and the number of cars per capita is much higher--obscenely high, if you want my personal opinion.

I am aware that Hondas are quite popular, and reliable. But they have those plastic bumpers I don't care for. Several of the real car afficionados at SI own them, and swear by them. However, they are not nearly as safe as Volvos are. My own personal opinion is that I only like European cars, and the old-fashioned looking models of Jeeps.

I note that Volvo stock has gained ten points since I considered buying some almost two years ago. That is definitely not a very quick appreciation. Still, their trucks division is very strong.
