Richard, Sounds like a job for a computer programmer. My technical analysis systems are very simplistic. An example is the "Halfway Point Rule" taught by W.D. Gann. You subtract the extreme lowest point from the extreme highest point of a price move and divide by two. You then take this 50 percent retracement of the previous rally or decline as a buying or selling opportunity, depending on whether prices are trending down from a top or rallying up from a bottom.

Why not take a short-cut in your search for XAU specific answers and ask Jim McMannis...he posted on here recently; shd be easy enough to find him and ask point blank.
