David,
You just might be on to something. Not so much as to a greater amount of total gold, but perhaps with all the talk of partial releases and the growing anxiety of shareholders, GE may have decided to totally change the much anticipated report.
Imagine that you are GE, you see tons of new interest and shareholders, alot of talk about how much the release will have in it. (500 thou oz, 5 million, etc.) Much of us would like to see a big report, it will take 500 years to mine, or at least many years to sample, ect.. Now, suppose you were planning to let out little pieces at a time, even though it is possible to let out a big chunk. With the overwhelming sentiment of this thread and callers, you decide to announce a large portion. Since you've been planning all along to report in small increments, you now have to re-write the entire report. It would take time.
Everybody, this is just a scenario I've been milling over. Do you think it's possible? I would appreciate any feedback on this.

Brian

All,

Excerpt taken from 27 October press release, when they wet our whistle with 50 sample results (from areas not even believed to contain gold):

Paravicini added, ''We believe that as the balance of our 1,200 assays on samples taken from over 300 points on the Cangalli deposit come in, the overall averages will rise to the levels of our initial work at the beginning of the year (l997).''

Please note that this indicates that the samples were already taken WAAAAYYY back in October. The El Nino phenomenon didn't start raining them out til recently.

And if they are re-sampling, then why?

And what happened to the original samples?

Why, why, why.....
