Sure, if you're willing to fly to Kansas! It's a virtual job (Jill works from California), but we'd want to be able watch you :)

Watching me would indeed be advisable Brad; having me as webmaster for the day would be like setting the cat among the pigeons. <ggg>

When I was a young boy I remember getting excited when they changed the numbers down at the local McDonalds. I can remember it hitting 3 billion. Now it is 99 billion.

Brad,

I'm posting this to you because it's a suggestion(?) as much as it's a question.

What would be the easiest way to look up a ticker symbol while reading a message/thread? If there's not an easy way to do this, I think it would be nice to have some sort of ticker symbol lookup feature on the page you read messages on.

Kansas?

I would have figured 1st place winner would get to fly to California and work with Jill...

I was wondering if it was possible to post the 'most bookmarked' threads by group? Hot sectors are cool, but I am not sure everyone appreciates how many different forum types there are here on SI.

PS: I am continually amazed at the great job you all do! Thanks

Where is the statistical data about SI ? For example, how many postings have there been? We must be approaching 4,000,000, and I have figured out you aren't changing the home page to stop a stampead. I promise not to clog the wires. How many threads are there? How many paid members and trail members? Maybe etc.

Thanks Brad (I guess you're not going to do the counter, huh?)

Brad,

Has a speed reading mode been suggested here yet? If not, then let me suggest an option that allows individual settings for the number of lines or posts that the NEXT link brings up. If one is going to read every post in a thread, why not do it 5 posts at time (or retrieve as many of the remaining posts that will fit in (say) 200 lines).

Thanks for any consideration,
Michael

Brad,

Efficiency is one of the things most of us are after in using one line services.

When looking through the many threads, people determine the threads that interest them and bookmark them.

They also bookmark people that 'think' along the same lines as them and they want to use those peoples history to explore areas they might also be interested in.

Another method of finding kindred spirits would be to allow people to 'see' those that have bookmarked them! Since someone else marked them, it is likely they also look at threads that would be of interest to the person being bookmarked.

This could be a very efficient method of finding other threads of interest.

Possible?

Ira

Another suggestion: along with the PeopleMarks and the SubjectMarks, how about a People cross Subject marks. The basic idea is the same as the PeopleMarks, except that the system would take an intersection with the SubjectMarks of the user. Clicking on the link would bring the list of people who you have chosen to PeopleMark, and clicking on their names would only show the messages posted to the subjects that you have chosen to SubjectMark. (The count of new messages would, of course, also reflect only the messages in the intersection set.)
