Sonny,

With my carrier (Dishnetwork), each TV requires a receiver if you wish to be able to watch different programs at the same time. I believe there is an 'access charge' of about $6 for each additional TV.

The initial cost in your case would be about $550 + installation. (You can do the install yourself - it's really easy)

Like I said, I do not need all the movie channels etc. If I really want a movie, many are available on the PPV (Pay Per View) channels - many of them recent releases like Jodie Foster's Contact.

I have no idea if the set top systems work with the DSS. I do know that they are looking at having a fully integrated network connection sometime in the future. My receiver has a data port and phone line port so the hardware at the end user is there.

The reason the initial cost is so high is the equipment is purchased. There are other providers that rent the equipment but I feel that you end up in the same situation as cable that way. They have to keep increasing prices to cover the cost of updating your equipment to the latest greatest.

Regards,
dmg
