James - Re: " Intel's board is scared out of their wits at their reddening bottom line "

Intel has been profitable for 48 straight quarters - since 1986.

How about AMD - it has lost money in 7 of the last 9 quarters (the two profitable quarters they earned a few pennies/share) and this quarter they predict a SUBSTANTIAL LOSS - making losses fo 8 in the past 10 quarters!

That is a REDDENING BOTTOM LINE!

Now, you dump on Andy Grove for not being up to the task. By your reasoning, Jerry Sanders should have been fired two years ago and made to wash cars in the AMD parking lot.

Paul

James
Intel indeed not at its best right now. And board and the Street are concerned but I do not think that Andy stepped down because of that. To be fair to Andy, he announced that he is going to step down as president a while back.
