Let's start with a premise that all pragmatic people in both "liberal" and "conservative" camps can agree on.: That is if one accept a premise that by definition of success there are successful , less successful and unsuccessful people and nations. In the eyes of nature a competition is the only ticket to survival and progress.. No lion would ever let another lions to hunt on their territory.. if they did all be dead.. A compassion is a human trait (and I pray that all of us have it) it is not a tool of nature with a sole exception of maternal instinct (a powerful tool for survival given to all species) A prosperity breads a great society (high standards of living, constitutions, good medicine, respect for law) not wise versa. By living longer, by taking care of sick and poor, by helping others the great society that is powerful and mighty in its own time signs a death sentence for itself, like a dense forest prone to fire .opening a space for a new greatness .No species can defy a rule of nature like no nation can defy the rule of economics (lions never do) and not to pay the price..In USA East we build "Apartment Projects" how many lives did we destroy before these projects were scrapped ? Now people try to safe Wales on the beach, of course most of them die or beached again .In the prosperous countries people called liberals build so called "welfare" system which most nations are desperately and largely unsuccessfully are now trying to "reform". In poor countries "liberals" called communists build "utopia" that has collapsed long before prosperity normally kills a society.many people died in the process of "building" .. On the subject of food.I agree we are fortunate to live in USA. Does not mean there is no hunger here. some of the "hungry" people here have no idea what is real hunger is.When principle of "below standard of living " is applied one must understand that "standard" is calculated for this country not the world.. So everybody is right "hunger" but not a real "hunger" affects so many millions.and certainly nobody is hungry in prison and criminal justice system that "compassionate" society has created. The very same "liberals' are now asking IMF to bail-out our banks never mind really hungry people getting really hungry...they do not vote for them... Gold on he other hand is not a creation like money is.. that is why it defies collapse of civilizations and great societies .but given to the East will be quickly squandered by few and wasted by others.You can not build the road without a commitment to maintain it. Sorry if above came-out as a lecture.. it is just a fragmented opinion "The worst deeds were done with great intentions" A collapsing society that gave to the World a Chernobyl, massive people killings and wars..of course has great implication for the World..but it can be only helped by history...not money infusion...
