NW,

Agreed. Replaying a phone call is not too difficult a request. Maybe IR would respond to a request if enough people complained.

Anyway, just dug this up from an article. If this proves to be the case do you think we might be stuck in the 20's until later this year. Or does Compaq hide another channel inventory write off in the acquisition cost and no one notices? IMO, Compaq should take whatever write offs now and get things working correctly.

"There is significant speculation that in order even to get near those levels (two to three week channel inventory), Compaq will end up writing down a large portion of its channel inventory as part of a much larger, second quarter charge related to the DEC integration."

COMPAQ COMPUTER (Friday's close: 25-3/8) said it plans to offer
free monitors and other accessories with its desktop PCs for
businesses, in an effort to reduce inventory at its distributors,
the Wall Street Journal said. Compaq said it will give away
15-inch monitors, valued at about $300 each, with its commercial
desktop PCs and extend the memory promotion, which had been
limited to high-end servers, to other units, the paper said.
Compaq's consumer business isn't suffering an inventory backup and
won't be affected by the new promotions, the paper said. (Reuters
