Almost all of the bears are not informed or are ill-informed. There have been 3 'news' stories on BTIM that have been grossly lacking in factual content and fairness. BTIM responded to the one's from Alan Ableson (Barron's) and Business Week. Both of these articles were riddled with untruths and the Business Week article quoted from short players without garnering a rebuttal from either a long or the company itself.

The third source of short information is Manuel Asensio. He has failed to back up what he claims are fraudulent 'promotions' of the stock by BTIM executives. I question his integrity as well for he is short BTIM and probably short pretty big.

As for longs being knowledgeable I know a pretty good bit about their products but not as much about the market for them. From a deductive reasoning standpoint there are also a number of reasons to be long. Abbott is behind BTIM. Hextend will be easily approved (some shorts have even said that they thought that BTIM, a small company, did not have the resources to even file for an NDA). The FDA let them skip phase I and II trials because their product, even though patented, is comprised of elements that are already understood from a medical perspective. Also, no insiders are or have been selling. They all held and some bought more in the mid-teens during the last month or so.

Shorts such as Bill Wexler do not deserve the time of day nor air if they were kept in a jar. Ignore everything Wexler says. He is a fool whose ego is profoundly out of proportion to his actual knowledge of this product (and many of the other short picks that he touts).

I will be glad to help in any way I can.
