someone pointed out that the sale for the 48$ per port
switches look similar to the Newbridge product.
Perhaps, these switches were in fact originally intended
for the OEM with Newbridge. Since Newbridge stopped
the contract, NBASE is selling it outright through the
resellers.

I think your characterization as "desperate" in terms of selling this particular product is incorrect and really there's no evidence to support that. Perhaps you're playing Devil's Advocate here.

They are offering a single product at a bargain price through one channel for a limited time. That's called Marketing...just like Toyota or Sony or whatever. It's a breakthrough price and it puts pressure on others in the industry, rather than the other way around. It's certainly a way to get noticed.

I'm not at all concerned that this is a "desperate" move.
