Right now, if you want the best performance in a CPU, you have to go with Intel. That is if you are willing to spend $400 to $900 just for the CPU.

What Cyrix has to offer is price/performance. for about $100, you can get a CPU that will produce about 90% of performance of the most expensive Intel CPUs in most application performance benchmarks, like Winstone.

Cyrix will come out with a new integrated CPU code named MXi. It will come in performance equivalent to 350 to 400 MHz Slot 1 Pentium II, it will have 128 bit memory bus, improved FPU, additional 3D instructions, integrated 2D/3D video, audio, DVD decoding, MPEG-2.
