No, but a C++-based component model with runtime design features and built-in persistence was not offered in MFC or Windows because that would compete with Visual Basic. There were to be no additions made that would steer developers toward selecting C++ over Visual Basic, period. Additions to Windows, including COM, were designed around the internal architecture and data types of Visual Basic. That pattern could not be more crystal clear that it is now. Boland's OWL was even more tragic than MFC and Zinc was the only framework which even attempted to provide the functionality I'm talking about. They failed with an extremely buggy release and because they decided to focus primarily on being cross-platform versus interactive. Visual C++ and MFC are as interactive as a dead cat.
