In the DLJ version of that same story, regarding the sub $1K market.

The officials dismissed sub $1,000 systems -- those priced at $1,000 or less -- as a threat. "We don't see a big demand from customers for products at that level," Topfer said. Dell's competitors like Compaq CPQ.N and Hewlett Packard HWP.N have started to push such low-cost systems in Asia. Topfer said such systems were end-of-life technology in which Dell chose not to participate.
