Zeev,

BTU - the quantity of heat required to raise the temperature of one pound of water one degree Fahrenheit at or near 39.2 degrees F.

MCF - 1000 cubic feet of gas at 60 degrees (?) F.

As far as I am aware, the 1:1 relationship of BTU and volume of gas is pure coincidence. They are entirely different measures.

As for trading gas, I know that there is a futures market pegged to prices at a terminal in Louisiana (I think). I think it would have to be based on BTU value, since that is the ultimate measure of its worth - much the same way that different oils trade for different prices depending upon their characteristics. Couldn't say about a symbol, but WSJ or similar should be able to tell you. Hope this helps.

Mike
