Cycomm International Wins Order of $1.4 Million For PCMobiles From Harris County, Texas MCLEAN, Va., March 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Cycomm International Inc. (Amex: CYI - news) announced today that it has been awarded a contract of $1.4 million to supply the Harris County, Texas, Sheriff's Department with its PCMobile rugged laptop computers. The Company is scheduled to begin delivery to Harris County, which includes the City of Houston, in April and expects additional orders in the future as Harris County expands its computer program. Harris County, which has a population of 3 million, is the sixth largest county in the nation. The PCMobile units are an important part of the county's program to modernize its sheriff's department communications and information technology systems. Harris County is currently using radios to check on vehicles and licenses, which can take as long as 30 minutes when radio air traffic is heavy. Installing a computer communication system will give officers instant access to the information they require allowing them to perform their duties more efficiently and safely. Captain Michael Smith, coordinator of special projects for the Patrol Bureau of the Harris County Sheriff's Department said, ''The installation of PCMobiles into our sheriffs' vehicles will increase officer safety while adding to our effectiveness in serving the huge area we have to cover. Eventually we plan to use the PCMobile for in-vehicle reporting, where sheriffs' vehicles equipped with PCMobile will serve as an office away from the station for our officers.'' Albert I. Hawk, President and Chief Executive Officer of Cycomm, said: ''We are pleased to announce the Harris County order--one of the larger orders we have won so far.'' He added, ''This installation, coming on the heals of purchases from Henrico County, VA and St. Louis, MO is further validation of the growing acceptance of the PC Mobile as the product of choice in the public safety market.'' The PCMobile laptop was designed to meet the unique demands of police forces and to perform under the severe operating conditions of public safety vehicles, which experience extreme vibration, sudden starts and stops as well as physical abuse. The PCMobile's sealed magnesium housing can survive a 3 foot drop on concrete and withstands coffee or soda spills. The backlit keyboard is a unique feature that enables operation at night while maintaining officer safety. The 133 MHz processor provides tremendous performance and the high brightness color display is visible even in direct sunlight. PCMobile comes with a limited lifetime warranty that is unparalleled in the industry.
