Peritus Software Services, Inc. Comments On First Quarter Outlook

BILLERICA, Mass., March 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Peritus Software Services, Inc. (Nasdaq: PTUS) today announced its preliminary results for the quarter ending March 31, 1998 based on information available to date. Total revenue in the 1998 first quarter is expected to be between $9 million and $12.5 million, and the Company expects a net loss between $(0.19) and $0.00 per share.

The Company's revenue shortfall is attributable to lower than anticipated license revenue primarily due to sales force integration issues. To address the challenges facing the Company, Peritus plans to reduce its expenses and incur a restructuring charge in the second quarter of 1998, including a net reduction in work force of approximately 35 people.

"Although we are disappointed with our results for the quarter," stated Douglas Catalano, President and CEO of Peritus, "we continue to attract new customers and cash and receivables at quarter end are anticipated to amount to between $22 million and $25 million."

The Company plans to announce its final 1998 first quarter results in late April.

its Enterprisewide Data Administration Project

PHOENIX--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 30, 1998--Viasoft Inc.
(Nasdaq/NM:VIAS), a leading provider of business solutions to help
companies manage and evolve their information assets, announced Monday
that the Air France Group has signed a licensing agreement for
Viasoft's Rochade repository.

The agreement covers an initial purchase of NT server, Windows 95
clients and services support. Air France will use the Rochade
repository to implement its enterprisewide Data Administration
project.

"Having carried out an in-depth study of the market, we settled
on Rochade because it offered a reliable and expandable Business Data
Administration platform," said Roland Postic, Technical Architecture
Manager with Air France.

"Thanks to its ability to integrate all existing information
sources, Rochade can form the backbone of every new project, allowing
each development team to automatically re-use the company's components
and data."

"We were impressed by the approach of the Air France team in
defining its objectives and the resources needed for this project,"
said Ludovic Clement, managing director of Viasoft France. "We are
very pleased that Air France has chosen the Rochade technology and are
confident that we can meet the Air France Group's objectives for this
project."

Rochade was recently ranked as the number one enterprisewide
repository by Yphise, a leading worldwide industry analyst group.
According to the Yphise List of Requirements, Rochade proved to be the
best repository software compared to the competition.

"Rochade's main asset is its ability to run on any platform," said
Xavier Denis of Yphise. "It is able to be used in a mainframe
environment and also a client/server environment with a wide variety
of platforms supported."

Viasoft's Rochade is an enterprise repository that facilitates an
integrated information technology (IT) asset management environment
and provides a single point of communication for managing critical
information about information systems and work products. Rochade
enables the Information Asset Warehouse, which supports information
asset management.

The ability to successfully manage information assets is arguably
the most important capability an emerging organization must develop in
the information-based economy.
