HP Pessimistic About '98 Asia Growth

DJIA stock. No big deal. Last week Chrysler announced the suspension of weekend/OT production at its Jeep and Cherokee plants. For the last three years, all of that output was destined for Asia and a falloff in Asian orders has caused the weekend shutdowns. All those folks working the line are going to suffer economically, and they won't be buying first or second or third PCs for their families at Best Buy, even though H-P will probably cut prices a'la Compaq, IBM, etc. At some point consumer confidence gets eroded. The ripple is growing wider, no?
