Toyko: KKRO News: Lee Iacocca is named chairman of restaurant firm

LOS ANGELES, March 30 (Reuters) - Lee Iacocca, the brash former chairman of Chrysler Corp. (C - news)>, has been named acting chairman of the restaurant
company Koo Koo Roo Inc. (KKRO - news), Koo Koo Roo said Monday.

Iacocca, 73, a Koo Koo Roo board member, will begin a ''major restructuring'' of the company with William Allen, Koo Koo Roo's new chief executive officer.

The company's press release did not detail the restructuring and no one was available for comment at Koo Koo Roo's Los Angeles headquarters.

Koo Koo Roo said Kenneth Berg had resigned as chairman and as a member of the board, following recent open heart surgery.

Koo Koo Roo operates 52 restaurants in California, Las Vegas, Florida and Washington, including 14 Hamburger Hamlet restaurants.

Iacocca left Chrysler in 1992, ending a 46-year career in the auto industry. He is best known for leading Chrysler back from the brink of bankruptcy in the
mid-1980s.
