Teacher Retirement System Awards Alydaar Year 2000 Contract

CHARLOTTE, N.C., March 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) has awarded Alydaar Software Corporation (Nasdaq: ALYD - news) a Year 2000 contract. The contract calls for Alydaar to remediate legacy system code at its Charlotte, NC Year 2000 factory. TRS has in excess of 2,000,000 lines of code comprised of approximately 60% Natural language code, 30% COBOL language code, and 10% Assembler language code.

The worldwide Year 2000 problem arises from computer programs written in the 1970s and 1980s that read only the last two digits in a year. The 00 reading for 2000 would cause an error in some programs or could be interpreted as 1900. The worldwide market to repair the Year 2000 problem is estimated to be in excess of $600 billion.

Robert Gruder, Alydaar's CEO, stated: ''Working with TRS has been a pleasure thus far. TRS has shown the knowledge and dedication to achieve its Year 2000 goals on schedule''.

''TRS is committed to a complete assessment and remediation of all hardware and software impacted by the Year 2000 data processing issue,'' explained TRS Executive Director Charles Dunlap. ''Our contract with Alydaar, along with work being done by our staff and our other contractors, will ensure that we meet this goal well in advance of the year 2000.''

TRS, the sixth largest retirement system in the nation, has chosen Alydaar to remediate all of their computer code to ensure Year 2000 compliance. The system delivers retirement and related benefits authorized by law for members and their beneficiaries through prudent investment and management of assets held in trust for them in an actuarially sound system administered in accordance with applicable fiduciary principles. TRS serves more than 850,000 members and manages funds valued in excess of $69 billion.

Alydaar Software Corporation is a software reengineering company, specializing in providing services to resolve the Year 2000 problem, as well as computer language translation and systems migration services. Using SmartCode, their core reengineering technology, Alydaar has already automatically corrected millions of lines of code for its clients who have put it back into production. Alydaar has offices throughout North America and Europe.
