This is not a reply to your question--I am posting to you because you are the only person who has posted all day, nearly.

Though I must say the suggestion that the DJA puts may be hedging rather than bearish speculation seems reasonable--though I guess that's bearish in itself.

In any case--

The Marketguage ration of negatives to positives is now 13-6, and there are an awful lot--maybe 18--neutral indicators.

I have not checked the ratio of specialist/public shorts for last week. Does anyone know it?

If one more indicator had been negative than positive, I think I would have called it (14-5) close to an outright sell signal.

But maybe that idea is skewed by my bearishness. Let's see. There are 37 indicators. Maybe having a margin of 18 of them (without worrying about the strength of the signal) negative would be really foolproof.

Meantime, though, the trend of the indicators is certainly towards the negative.
