VENKIE or anyone,

this may be a real dumb question but I am a non-tech....

If I buy a computer with the following configuration:

Intel Pentium 333
WDC xx gig Drive
64m Ram
standard MS WIN bundle of software
etc etc

What would be the difference between a DELL, CPQ, GTW or brand X, if all the components are identical? Should their be a difference in performance? Would one be more reliable than another?

Thanks for any response.

Ramsey

re: <<Anyone who knows computers..acer sucks and everyone loves good ole USA Dell..>>
<<Shareholders of Dell go out of they're way to buy Dell.>>

It is interesting the responses to my post that pointed out a lower cost machine than Dell's offers right now.
It seems there was anger at the fact that someone would even point this out.

Several comments wanting a compare of the Warranty. PC's and warranties are real simple. If you turn it on and it works for 2 days, then it will probably work years to come.
In this case, If the Acer were to not work, I would imagine a trip to the return counter at BBY would be in order.
Beets having to wait on snail mail for 2 weeks and another 2 for a RMA number. (There have been several complaints about the time to obtain an RMA on this thread)

Last, Despite the fact that Share holders "go out of they're way to buy DELL" That is great, but it won't have a big impact on the stock.
That is like saying Hey I bought a Ford Truck, now the stock should go up.

Last, Going out of their way? I thought DELL was supposed to be the easiest was to buy a PC. :)
