Federal Filings 10Ks and 10Qs via Dow Jones

FORM 10K PERIOD ENDED: 12/31/97
SEC RCVD DATE: 03/25/98

ISSUER: CYMER INC.
SYMBOL: CYMI

WASHINGTON (FFBN) - Cymer Inc. has granted Seiko Corp. (J.SKO, J.SKR) the exclusive rights in Japan as well as the non-exclusive rights outside Japan to manufacture and sell Cymer's industrial high power lasers for an up-front fee of $3 million.

The information was released in a Form 10-K recently filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Cymer granted Seiko a right of first refusal to fund Cymer's development of new industrial laser technologies. Seiko also has a
right of first refusal regarding licenses for Cymer's new lasers. These rights do not apply to lasers developed by Cymer with funding from other companies.

Cymer is entitled to royalties of 5% from Seiko on related product sales through 1999. After that time, the royalty is subject to renegotiation.

In addition, the license agreement provides that product sales between Cymer and Seiko will be at the 15% discount from the respective companies' list prices. The agreement runs through August 2012.
