The YHOO 10-K, see excerpts below, says they charge 0.02 to 0.08 per impression (apparently defined as a page view [by a unique ip address??]). Now if they have 65 million+ impressions per day that should come out to about $1.3 (@ $0.02) to 5.2 million/day (@$0.08). Since web ad revenue is about $5-8 million/month it seems they are getting revenue from about 5 million impressions per day. Does anyone know why there is such a discrepancy (ten fold or so) between page views and revenues?

Company obligations typically include guarantees of minimum number of "impressions," or times that an advertisement appears in pages viewed by users of the Company's online properties.

Yahoo!'s standard rates for banner advertisements currently range from $0.02 to $0.07 per impression, depending upon location of the advertisement within Yahoo!'s properties and the extent to which it is targeted for a particular audience.

The Company's standard rate for context-based keyword advertisements currently ranges from $0.03 to $0.08 per impression. Discounts may be provided from standard rates for high volume, longer-term contracts.
