The reason they need more gateways is to cover more of the globe. I read somewhere that it would take 200 to provide coverage everywhere the sats have a footprint, maybe that was wrong. How much will be covered with the eventual 50-60 gateways? Southern or northern pacific? How long will it be before they finish building gateways? I've been trying to find the answers to these questions without success. I'm not bearish on Globalstar, I think it will be a success. At the same time, I don't think there's a clear superiority to it over Iridium as the majority seem to think.
