Unfortunately, It depends.

Take AMD, with the stock in the tank, there were not going to say anything about K6 yields until they had positive news.
Short term that is could be bad for the stock.
Now that good news is coming out, it is good for the stock.

If they had said something premature and it did not pan out, the stock probably would have gotten crushed again.

DELL's is in a don't screw anything up position. Prolonging something in the name of the stock price could be an expensive error.

This is just an example.
