LEADERSHIP IN THE UK IV - Peter de Jager: 'he <Blair> is showing world leadership in this field"

'Bug-Busting Plan Condemned

Tony Blair's announcement of a raft of measures to tackle the Millennium computer problem was warmly welcomed by industry
experts - but condemned by critics, including the Opposition, as "too little, too late".

But two of the world's leading experts on the millennium problem praised the Prime Minister for his efforts.

Peter de Jager, the world-recognised leading campaigner on the issue, said: "I have been campaigning on this for seven years now,
so anything anyone tells me is late.

"But I'm very impressed with what Tony Blair has said. He is showing world leadership in this field."
