Judging by after hours trading I guess the news is not news. I'm glad I'm not taking another shot to the head here. Anyone know why.

My off the top guess.... he hardlined the board with a re-price my $32 options or trade me line and they said ... see ya!

Now my fantasy..... they are making room for Andy Grove.

Ah come on it's been boring around here lately we need a good joke.

Cheers to not taking another big beating. Looking forward to hearing a more factual explanation.

Chris: This is not an easy call. Much will depend how the news was received by the employees. If they perceive that Mr Benson is better able to lead them thru the desert, the move is positive. If on the other hand the Employees feel that the ship is again rudderless, the news is bad for all parties.

The shareholders and Employees would benefit if the Chairman within a week or so issued a policy statement defining his Objectives and targets to be achieved on a quarterly basis. Without this, Mr Reed will be the whipping boy if and when shortfalls occur.

Don Reed -- Pushed Out or Wanted Out (??)

Kris wrote:

Whether he was forced out or wanted out the change is bad news!

Quote from Craig Benson on taking over as CEO
"...But citing my industry experience -- Don convinced me to manage
the particulars of implementation -- and proposed that he continue to
oversee the broader business strategy from his seat on the board --
and as a consultant to the company"

Why can't he say it in plain words "He wanted out" or
"I/Board wanted him out".

Questions a new CEO has to answer and maybe other readers here
want to take a stab at as well:

1. Pursue a indirect sales model or switch back to old direct one?

2. The proposed talk of sale-spinoff of the SPECTRUM nwk. management division. Continue or kill the spinoff?

3. VOIP strategy for CS ? (nothing announced till date. ASND,
BAY , COMS , CSCO are already full into an IP Telephony strategy)
