K6-266 offered only at 0.25um. AMD couldn't make money on the 0.35um because the die size is too big (163mm^2) and yield is low. At 0.25um
the die size is 68mm^2 (less than 1/2 of 0.35um parts) and rumor has it yield is "north of 160" and as high as 80% which is about 280 dice/wfr. or about 150% yield for Intel 0.25um PII.

Everyone talks about yields improving, while nobody is willing to say on what process.!!!

Is the yields 60-80% on the .35u process. If so it doesn't mean much. K6-233's will soon be phased out, and these are manufactured on the .35u.

If yields on the .25u are 60-80% what about the K6-233's from the bin splits. This will degrade the yields significantly.

With the introduction of the Celeron 266, No matter how one slices it,AMD will LOSE even more SIGNIFICANT $$$ next Q.
