NEW YORK -(Dow Jones)- BancAmerica Robertson Stephens & Co. launched
a new rating system Wednesday, and at the same time, changed its
recommendation on several companies. The firm's new rating system adds a
"strong buy" rating, which brings it to five ratings: strong buy, buy,
long-term attractive, market perform and market underperform. Under the
previous system, the firm's highest rating was a "buy."
BancAmerica Robertson Stephens in a press release said the new system
will help its clients focus on the "most urgent investment ideas." The
firm said the stocks it rates strong buy have the greatest appreciation
potential over the next three to six months.
The firm raised the following to "strong buy" from "buy":

Applied Micro Circuits Corp. (AMCC)
America Online Inc. (AOL)
