IBM has apparently positioned their "Blue Logic" systems on a chip capability to go after consumer and PC applications. Part of the core offerings include the Power PC core and the ARM core. Could is soon include the C6 core? Brian said recently that one big reason they had considered IBM to be the best choice for developing a foundry relationship was so they would gain access to Blue Logic 2.5v technology. The need for the copper interconnect stuff was thought to be farther out.

Systems on a chip technology will play an increasing role in product development over the coming years and IBM should have some of the best capability for implementing it. It will be interesting to see how creative IDT becomes in exploiting their embryonic position and core competencies.
