Dow Jones says after close of trading on March 31, 1998.

NEXTEL Communications (NXTL), an S&P MidCap 400 component, will replace Safety-Kleen (SK) in the S&P 500 after the close of trading on March 31, 1998.

Qualcomm Inc. (QCOM) will replace NEXTEL Communications in the S&P MidCap 400.

Sterling Software Inc. (SSW), an S&P SmallCap 600 component, will
replace Mapco Inc. (MDA) in the S&P MidCap 400 Index after the close of trading on Tuesday, March 31, 1998.
