Bert,
Re -- I can count 4 analysts that reported good yields:

But can those analysts imagine that Intel will cut prices on the Celeron?

Vantis Announces Price Cuts of More Than 40 Percent for
High Density MACH 5 CPLDs

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 30, 1998--Vantis, an AMD company,
today announced price cuts of over 40 percent for its higher density MACH(R) 5 complex
programmable logic devices (CPLDs).

''Networking applications have always been ideal for programmable logic because of the
time-to-market demands and the design flexibility that PLDs can offer,'' said Andy Robin,
vice president of marketing for Vantis. ''These applications, as well as telecommunication
applications, often require high-density CPLDs. The new price points of the MACH 5
combined with 3-volt technology, ISP and high performance, will continue to make these
devices attractive to our customers.''

According to the company, the MACH 5 devices have experienced sales growth of over 40
percent per quarter. They are popular with engineers because of the high performance the
devices offer with speeds as fast as 7.5 nanoseconds. Additionally, the devices are 3-volt,
In-System Programmable (ISP), spanning from 128 macrocells to 512 macrocells and with an
excellent selection of I/O-package combinations.

The highest density portion of the MACH 5 family, which addresses the performance and
volume requirements of a rapidly growing number of today's PLD designers, includes the
M5LV products at 320 to 512 macrocells. Specifically, they are shown here in their 120 I/O
versions:

Q1'97 Price Today's Price
Product Macrocells I/Os (1,000 pc) (1,000 pc)

M5LV-320/120 320 120 $74.81 $42.43
M5LV-384/120 384 120 $94.50 $56.70
M5LV-512/120 512 120 $145.15 $73.44

Vantis, an AMD company, provides high performance field programmable gate array (FPGA)
and programmable logic device (PLD) solutions for communications, computing and industrial
applications. Vantis focuses on designing and marketing advanced programmable logic
products that satisfy the speed, density and ease of use requirements for today's logic
designs. As an AMD company, Vantis has access to AMD's world class process technology,
state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities and worldwide customer support.
