Dan, As the tax question has already proven, I'm not a real estate expert. I do buy Reits for income from time to time, though I am avoiding them now. I always used Washington Real Estate and New Plan, though they are both old-fashioned, conservative yield vehicles. I will not comment on Crescent because I think you already know more that I do about the area.

Darla Moore, I believe her name is, is not only a good real estate brainiac, but she is Rainwater's wife, I think. Still, giving a school $25 mil just to name a professional school after you seems a bit absurd. If it is charity, then do as Jesus said and never let the left hand know what the right hand is doing. If it is a publicity stunt, heck, I would write her name on all the bathroom walls at the Top 100 B-Schools for $10 mil. -g-

I also kind of like the way Utah plays. Defense means something in college where the stars can't breat the rules because they are stars. MB
