Industry analysts say the semi equip business will be bad for 6-9 months . The only positive is that 99 is supposed to be a good year..
Since semi equip orders are booked months in advance, stocks prices should start reflecting '99' s upswing summer/fall of '98.
This assumption is based on Korea being able to finance equip purchases again as well as Japan showing some strength.

Jeffrey.. Methinks you are a bit too pessimistic on CYMI, just as with DPMI.. Here is the latest SOX chart..
207.95.154.130
The Stochastics, along with a (finally) positive RSI appear to be predicting an upturn for tech stocks... (which, like your comments, may have a 1/16 effect on anything <g>).. When the analysts are as pessimistic as they have been, with an acknowledged good turnaround no later than the fall...I kind of like to be invested. TSO

RE: " I call a 10-15% revenue decline and $.10 to $.15 earnings for the quarter, down from $.25 in the prior quarter, a "crummy" quarterregardless of the excuses."

Hi jeffrey,,,,IMO,,,,revenue decline due to increased R & D....is quite tolerable in the short run,,,

Revenue decline due to stupidity, waste, or dysfunctional fundamentals is not acceptable,,,

BTW,,,,what do you think it would cost to take a high-end laser from a concept in the mind to prototype (ready to mass produce)in 7 months....?

<I also think that any negative comment I might make on this thread
might have a short term impact of perhaps 1/16 on the stock, and a long term impact of exactly zero.>

Well, it was a short post.......
