"But citing my vast knowledge of the industry -- Don convinced me -- "
I'll say this. Benson doesn't seem overly burdened by excessive modesty.-- or ,possibly, by any knowledge of his own limitations. This makes me more nervous than the fact of the CEO switch!
I sincerely hope he does seek and heed Reed's advice.

Luke,

From Craig's letter:

>We have a ways to go. But as those of you who have been following us closely know well -- a lot of great work has been done.

I would now be happy to take your questions.>

Yes, a lot of work has been done and don't worry, Craig, Wall Street will be asking some real serious questions. Like what the hell is going on in Rochester! I don't care what anybody thinks, having your new President and CEO resign within 7 or 8 months won't be viewed positively by Wall Street for a couple of reasons.

1) Was he forced out by the same management that got Cabletron into the position that they are in now? That to me signals a return to old habits.

2) If he wasn't the man for the job then Bob and Craig should get tattoed for bringing him in and destroying shareholder value and potentially setting the 'recovery' back by a year or more.

By the way, I am well aware of the percentage of ownership that Bob and Craig had of Cabletron and that Bob is no longer affiliated with the company.

I will be interested to see Wall Street's reaction.

Good Luck CS shareholders I am pulling for you,

Cheers,

Steve

Craig Benson is the weirdest user of hyphens I've ever seen. Despite (or because of) the after-hours trades, I think this news is extremely positive for the stock. I don't know anything about the respective abilities of Benson or Reed, but I think the stock needs a severe shaking to get it out of its current funk. This event might be it.
