over on the L3 thread, someone mentioned a company called
Metromedia Fiber Network (MFNX).
very interesting.

it went public at the beginning of the year, at 16.
and ran to 38.
it's since pulled back to 34 or so.

the interesting thing is that the company's footprint is quite similar
to Qwest's:

also, they've just gotten the go-ahead to do the wiring infrastructure
