getgo234, Go back and really read the news release from CRUS... biz.yahoo.com If I'm not mistaken, their chip is for handling the physical DVD drive (i.e. the mechanism that spins the disk) and some associated technical stuff. LSI's chip is for interpreting the contents of the DVD disk. I could be wrong, but I don't think the two are competing against each other, but instead complement each other. See the last line in the second paragraph of the news release talking about interfaces to MPEG-2 decoders (like LSI's chip). Technical experts on the subject, feel free to contradict the above paragraph... DWB
