Sometimes these certificates are worth money. There are companies that research stock certificates & often find that the company merged or was bought out & that money is owed & can be claimed. How much money is involved here? I've read these companies charge a fair percentage to do all the work you may need.

Intersting, I too have old shares of stock from 1914 but the shares of Clark Brothers Stores in Pa weren't worth much because of the fact that the store burned down and went out of business. My great grandparents were lousy investors too!
