Interesting. Now here's a philosophical question: how fast was the car going?

If part of it exceeded the speed limit, isn't that part of the car traveling at an unsafe speed? And if part of the car is traveling at an unsafe speed, should at least that part of the car, and a corresponding percentage of the driver, be charged with a violation?

Maybe the judge (if he had understood your argument) should have prorated the fine according to the percentage of the car that was speeding.
