Tom,

Why buy the cow, when you get the milk for almost free? From my perspective, Sony is benefiting more from the current relationship with LSI then they would if they bought them. They can cherry pick the designs they want LSI to build for them, and not get bogged down with running the company. I don't know if you could justify running LSI just to support Sony products, so you would then be left with the situation where Sony might have to try and sell chips to their competitors... never an easy thing to do. LSI does most of the heavy lifting, and Sony gets great products for a fair price... what more could they ask for?
