Last mile speed to your CPU has little to do with CISCO, and everything to do with your local media service provider (telco/cable companies). Cisco is in the same boat as Intel in this regard. I can say for a fact that the internet hub router my provider uses is the fastest in the industry...but the best non-HDLC/ISDN service available to me is 33.3Kbps outbound. :-(
You want a bigger pipe? Look to your cable and xDSL companies for growth...you already missed the CSCO/COMS/ASND hey-days of triple-digit growth.

PS: Cisco performance is directly proportional to the silicon (read CPUs) that is deployed on the box.
